How It Works
The color extraction algorithm analyzes the image to identify the most dominant and visually significant colors. The process:
- Extracts up to 5 distinct colors from the image
- Filters out very dark colors and similar shades (to avoid using the black bars from letterbox formats)
- Prioritizes colors by their frequency in the image
- Click any color swatch to copy its hex code
This tool uses the same color palette extraction tool that powers the film still galleries on this site.

Is this tool free to use?
Yes! The color extractor is completely free to use. No registration or account required. Just upload an image and extract colors instantly. (Your images will never be saved or used anywhere by the website)
How do I copy the hex color codes?
After extracting colors, simply click on any color swatch in the palette. The hex code will be automatically copied to your clipboard, and you'll see a "Copied!" confirmation.
